Everything below concerns somatotroph. We keep the language plain, cite what the science says, and separate well-supported claims from open questions.

Signaling begins at the GHRH receptor, a class B G protein-coupled receptor displayed on somatotroph cells of the anterior pituitary. Receptor occupancy activates Gs proteins, which raise adenylyl cyclase activity and intracellular cyclic AMP, in turn driving protein kinase A dependent pathways. The downstream output is synthesis and pulsatile secretion of growth hormone into the bloodstream. Hepatic tissue and peripheral sites respond by increasing insulin-like growth factor 1 production. Somatostatin and IGF-1 itself supply negative feedback that caps the size and duration of each secretory burst.
Metabolic interest in this compound centers on fat distribution rather than on hormone levels alone. Imaging trials in adults with excess abdominal fat report reductions in visceral adipose tissue, while subcutaneous depots change comparatively little. Growth hormone and IGF-1 are presumed to carry the effect, but the separate contribution of each is not firmly established. Whether these changes persist after treatment stops, and whether they alter longer-term health outcomes, remain open questions that published work does not answer consistently.

=== Flavour and aroma === Dozens of compounds contribute to Scotch whisky flavour and aroma characteristics, including volatile alcohol congeners (also called higher oils) formed during fermentation, such as acetaldehyde, methanol, ethyl acetate, n-propanol and isobutanol. Other flavour and aroma compounds include vanillic acid, syringic acid, vanillin, syringaldehyde, furfural, phenyl ethanol and acetic acid. One analysis established 13 distinct flavour characteristics dependent on individual compounds, including sour, sweet, grainy and floral as major flavour perceptions. Some distilleries use a peat fire to dry the barley for some of their products before grinding it and making the mash. Peat smoke contributes phenolic compounds, such as guaiacol, that give aromas similar to smoke. The Maillard browning process of the residual sugars in the mashing process, particularly through formation of 2-furanmethanol and pyrazines imparting nutty or cereal characteristics contributes to the baked bread notes in the flavour and aroma profile. Maturation during multi-year casking in oak barrels mostly previously used for bourbon whiskey, sherry, wines, fortified wine (including port and Madeira), rum and other spirit production, has the largest impact on the flavour of the whisky. Some distilleries use virgin oak casks as used casks are becoming increasingly harder to source (particularly authentic sherry casks due to the downturn in sherry consumption plus the laws introduced in 1986 regarding bottling Spanish wines exclusively in Spain).

Meristematic cells give rise to various organs of the plant and keep the plant growing. There are two types of meristematic tissues 1) Apical Meristem 2) Lateral Meristem. The Apical Meristem is of two types; the shoot apical meristem (SAM) gives rise to organs like the leaves and flowers, while the root apical meristem (RAM) provides the meristematic cells for the future root growth. SAM and RAM cells divide rapidly and are considered indeterminate, in that they do not possess any defined end status. In that sense, meristematic cells are frequently compared to animal stem cells, which have an analogous behavior and function. Within plants, SAM cells play a major role in the overall growth and development, this is due to the fact that all cells making up the major parts of the plant come from the shoot apical meristem (SAM). There are three different important areas found within the SAM and they include the central zone, the peripheral zone, and the rib meristem. Each of these areas play an important role in the production of new stem cells within the SAM. All SAMs are usually dome shaped and have structures that are layered and are described as the tunica and corpus. CLV3 plays an important role in regulating the production of stem cells within the Central Zone region of the (SAM), this is also true for the cell promoting WUSCHEL (WUS) gene. The combination of these two genes regulates stem cell production by WUS negatively or positively regulating the production of stem cells by controlling the CLV3 gene.
She carried only a little money, but before she left, Hahn gave her a diamond ring he had inherited from his mother. Meitner continued to correspond with Hahn by mail. In late 1938 Hahn and Strassmann found evidence of isotopes of an alkaline earth metal in their sample. Finding a group 2 metal was problematic, because it did not logically fit with the other elements found thus far. Hahn initially suspected it to be radium, produced by splitting off two alpha-particles from the uranium nucleus, but chipping off two alpha particles via this process was unlikely. The idea of turning uranium into barium (by removing around 100 nucleons) was seen as preposterous. During a visit to Copenhagen on 10 November, Hahn discussed these results with Niels Bohr, Meitner, and Otto Robert Frisch. Further refinements of the technique, leading to the decisive experiment on 16–17 December 1938, produced puzzling results: the three isotopes consistently behaved not as radium, but as barium. Hahn, who did not inform the physicists in his Institute, described the results exclusively in a letter to Meitner on 19 December:
Atherosclerosis – a hardening of the arteries Sickle cell disease – an inherited blood disorder that can block circulation throughout the body, primarily affecting people of sub-Saharan origin. Myasthenia gravis Systemic sclerosis Sinusitis Sjogren's Syndrome - an autoimmune disease that primarily attacks the lacrimal and salivary glands, but also impacts other organs such as the lungs, kidneys, liver, and nervous system.

==== Late adult-onset, limb–girdle phenotype ==== There is an ultra-rare adult-onset, limb–girdle phenotype that presents very late in life (70+ years of age) due to a recessive homozygous PYGM mutation (p. Lys42Profs*48) resulting in severe upper and lower limb atrophy, with the possibility of ptosis (drooping eyelids) and camptocormia (stooped posture). As of 2017, there have been two reported cases of this specific homozygous mutation and phenotype. In 1980, a woman also had a limb–girdle phenotype with onset at age 60, histochemical staining showed myophosphorylase deficiency; however the genetic mutation was unknown.

== Cracked heels == Cracked heels is a common health problem and it may cause diseases and infections. It is caused by dryness of the foot skin, and accumulation of dead skin. Over time, it may cause pain and irritations. Various moisturising creams and foot files are available to cure and prevent it.
== Epidemiology == BPD has a point prevalence of 1.6% and a lifetime prevalence of 5.9% of the global population. Within clinical settings, the occurrence of BPD is 6.4% among urban primary care patients, 9.3% among psychiatric outpatients, and approximately 20% among psychiatric inpatients. Utilization of healthcare resources by individuals with BPD is high. Up to half may show significant improvement in their condition, resulting in ineligibility for diagnosis of BPD, following a ten-year period with appropriate treatment. Regarding gender distribution, women are diagnosed with BPD three times more frequently than men in clinical environments. Nonetheless, epidemiological research in the United States indicates no significant gender difference in the lifetime prevalence of BPD within the general population. Feminist scholars argue that the diagnosis is disproportionately applied to women, particularly survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and that it pathologizes the understandable emotional and relational responses to gendered violence. The relationship between BPD and ethnicity continues to be ambiguous, with divergent findings reported in the United States. The overall prevalence of BPD in the U.S. prison population is thought to be 17%. Sexual minorities (i.e., lesbian, gay, bisexual) are up to 3.82 times more likely to be diagnosed with BPD and gender minorities (i.e., transgender and gender diverse) are up to 4.05 times more likely to be diagnosed.

A new class of gene targeting MR contrast agents has been introduced to show gene action of unique mRNA and gene transcription factor proteins. These new contrast agents can trace cells with unique mRNA, microRNA and virus; tissue response to inflammation in living brains. The MR reports change in gene expression with positive correlation to TaqMan analysis, optical and electron microscopy.
=== Calreticulin === Calreticulin – especially its lectin-like domain – interacts with MHC-I. The P domain faces the MHC-I peptide-binding site towards ERp57. This orientation makes it possible for tapasin to attach and secure MHC-I. This translocation of TAP facilitates its opening out into an ER luminal cavity, edged by standard membrane entry points such as those for tapasin and MHC-I. These two entry points facilitate the recruitment of MHC-I with optimal peptide loading and eventual release of MHC-I in T-cell surfaces for recognition.
The Reconquista was a series of military and cultural campaigns by northern Iberian Christian polities against al-Andalus. The death of the Umayyad emir Abd ar-Rahman II in 852 brought an end to Umayyad efforts to extend authority northward. The discovery in the 830s of a tomb believed to be that of James the Great gave the Christians a powerful patron, and the elevation of Alfonso III of Asturias in the 860s ended a period of uncertain leadership, thereby providing the command required to channel this energy into a wave of expansionism southward. In 868, the region between the Minho and Douro rivers was secured from the Moors by Christian forces under Vímara Peres and constituted as the County of Portugal under him. The first county of Portugal lasted until 1071. In 1096, Alfonso VI of León refounded the county and bestowed it on Henry of Burgundy, who married Alfonso's illegitimate daughter, Teresa of León.
== Toxicity == While members of the Liliaceae s.s. have been used as food sources in humans, the bulbs of some species are poisonous to household pets (bulb toxicosis) if eaten and may cause serious complications, such as kidney failure in cats from Lilies, particularly Lilium longiflorum (Easter Lily). Dogs may develop less serious effects such as gastrointestinal problems and central nervous system depression. Most Fritillaria (e.g. F. imperialis, F. meleagris) bulbs contain poisonous neurotoxic alkaloids such as imperialin (peiminine), which may be deadly if ingested in quantity, while other species such as Fritillaria camschatcensis and Fritillaria affinis are edible. Tulips can cause skin irritation due to the presence of tuliposides and tulipalins, which are also found in the flowers, leaves and stems of Fritillaria. These are also toxic to a variety of animals.
genetic regulatory network (GRN) A graph that represents the regulatory complexity of gene expression. The vertices (nodes) are represented by various regulatory elements and gene products while the edges (links) are represented by their interactions. These network structures also represent functional relationships by approximating the rate at which genes are transcribed.

The amino acid sequence matches human growth hormone-releasing hormone, but the amino terminus carries a trans-3-hexenoyl group instead of a free amine. That single structural change chiefly affects enzymatic stability rather than receptor selectivity.
Growth hormone released from the pituitary stimulates IGF-1 production in the liver and other tissues, so circulating IGF-1 generally rises during exposure. The size of the rise varies between individuals and depends on baseline hormonal status and other concurrent factors.
Reported imaging studies focus on visceral adipose tissue, where reductions are more consistently observed across trials. Subcutaneous depots show smaller and less reproducible changes, so the two compartments should not be treated as equivalent.
